About
:
Hall Wines is a premier 21st Century vineyard and winery with six estate vineyards and more than five hundred acres of classic Bordeaux varietals, specializing in superior Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. As winegrowers and visionaries, the Halls have a strong respect for the environment and a commitment to cutting-edge vineyard technology to yield the highest quality grapes. Through meticulous attention to detail, HALL employs organic small-vine viticulture, precision winemaking, wild yeast fermentation, and micro-block blending to fully extract purity of fruit and express the unique and diverse character of Napa Valley’s soils and climate.

History:
Kathryn Walt Hall, along with husband Craig Hall, is the vintner of HALL Wines and has been involved in the California wine industry since her family became winegrowers in Northern California in1972. Kathryn managed the family vineyard from 1982 to 1992, and during this time, she produced Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon under the Walt Vineyards label. Dedicated to producing premier Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Kathryn and Craig purchased the legendary Sacrashe vineyard in the hills of Rutherford in 1995. Since then, HALL has cultivated five vineyards across Napa Valley.

Environmental Responsibilities:
Hall Wines are organically farmed with careful attention to the biodiversity of the Napa Valley environment and unique terroirs. In addition, HALL Wines has incorporated the use of 50% bio-diesel in their farming operations to reduce carbon emissions. Each of HALL’s six estate vineyards have been certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). With the construction of their new HALL St. Helena Winery, HALL is now the first winery in California to be certified Gold for the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System.

Tasting Note:
Hall “Kathryn Hall” Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the choicest fruit from our finest estate vineyard blocks and extraordinary mountain fruit from our select vineyard partners. Through a mélange of varietals and terroir, this wine has transcended into a symphonic Bordeaux cuvée. Fruit from our renowned Sacrashe vineyard dominates our 2008 blend. The captivating voice of the Sacrashe vineyard, with its restrictive volcanic ash soils, high elevation and undulating aspects, define the soul of this wine.

The nearly opaque purple-black color of this wine hints at its depth and power. Rife with aromas of violets, cocoa powder, stewed raspberries, blackberry nectar, and roasted herbs; the wine is luscious and dense with a sweet, focused core. Dark cherries, blackberry preserves, black spice and roasted nut flavours intermingle across a seemingly endless finish. This vintage of HALL “Kathryn Hall” Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to improve over 15 or more years of cellaring.

Accolades:
Rich, savory and full-bodied, showing direct, potent young Cabernet flavors built around blackberry and dark berry fruit, with touches of spice, black licorice, mineral and toasty wood. Very impressive for its purity, finesse and graceful finish.96 points, Wine Spectator

This is a best of barrels blend from HALL’s various vineyards, including the famous Sacrashe. The wine itself is lovely. It has a rm structure thanks to dusty tannins and a dry minerality, while bright acidity makes the cherry, blackberry, blueberry, cassis and dark chocolate fruit sing.” 94 points, Wine Enthusiast
