 Riesling-Frederic-Emile-Trimbach
Riesling 2009 Cuvée Frédéric Emile

The Ribeauvillé terroirs,  Geisberg and Osterberg, have been producing this wine for several generations. The average age of the vines, 45 years, results in limited yields.

The marl-limestone-sandstone and fossil-flecked Muschelkalk composition of the soil, as well as the beautifully ripe grapes harvested at the end of October lend this wine a remarkable personality: a dry and powerful, underlined by a mineral note and firm ripe acidity.

This wine is named for Frédéric Emile who became famous for providing a new guarantee of quality and authenticity for Trimbach in 1898.

The prestigious signature wine of the house, the “Cuvée Frédéric Emile” is highly prized by connoisseurs and collectors.

Pair with: gourmet foods, quality fish, caviar, and fine white meats.

VINS DE PRESTIGE
Riesling “Clos Sainte Hune”is a name that evokes pleasure.
 Hune
2011 Riesling, Clos Sainte Hune

This exceptional wine is a product of the terroir in the “Rosacker” vineyard, located in the village of Hunawihr. This parcel of land has been in the Trimbach family for more than 200 years.

The vines are on average 50 years old and lie on a predominantly limestone subsoil. These factors give this Riesling a unique flavor of remarkable fruit concentration, enhanced by a refined hint of minerality on the finish.

The small annual production of 8,000 bottles on average, makes this wine an extremely rare treasure sought after by collectors across the globe.

Trimbach’s “Clos Sainte Hune” wine has an exceptional ageing potential as it can age 7 to 10 years after bottling without even reaching its peak.

The Trimbach Family keeps the bottles 5 years in the cellar for ageing before release.

Wine ageing: 15-20 years +

VENDAGES TARDIVES – LATE HARVEST
Reserved for the four noble grapes; Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling or Muscat, they are  picked a few weeks after the official start of harvest. Generally affected by noble rot, they are selected from only the best vineyards and only in exceptional years. The “Vendanges Tardives” wines retain natural residual sugar which is in perfect balance with delightful freshness. These wines are intense and have an exceptional finish. They are pair well with foie gras, rich, creamy dishes, blue cheeses, washed-rind cheeses and desserts.
Pinot Gris, 2008 Vendages Tardives

Only produced in the best vintages, Late Harvest Pinot Gris is quite difficult to pull as the grape’s skin is very thin and fragile and can rot easily.

The strict legislation about VTs and SGNs says that Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer grapes have to reach a minimum potential of 15,3°.

Pair with: goose foie gras, goose pâté, white meats on creamy sauces, asiatic cuisine, lobster, etc.

Ageing potential: 10 – 15 years +

Riesling, 2002 Vendages Tardives

The Trimbach Family picks the Riesling grapes as late as possible to achieve maximum ripeness producing optimum depth of flavour and complexity. Those extra riped grapes have generally some noble rot, botritys cinerea.

In 2002, Trimbach produced a Riesling “Vendanges Tardives” with the grapes from some lieux-dits in Ribeauvillé (old vines, marl and limestone soils).

Pair with: Desserts, foie gras, rich dishes, etc. Excellent on its own for meditation.

Gewürztraminer, 2009, Vandages Tardives

Depending on the vintage, Pierre Trimbach produces Gewürztraminer Late Harvest with noble rot or passerillage, like in 1997 or 2003 (it means the berries grill thanks to the sun and concentrate in sugar).

This botrytis gives to the wine a somptuous complex side and some fatness, whereas the concentrated fruits give a sort of power to the wine, but very elegantly.

Pair with: traditional duck foie gras, Asian, Moroccan, or asiatic cuisine and most of the desserts. Gewürztraminer V.T. can also be the dessert itself!

SÉLECTION DE GRAINS NOBLES – NOBLE ROT
The most rare “Sélection de Grains Nobles” (selection of noble berries), results from the selective picking of each grape shriveled by noble rot. This harvest is only conducted in perfect weather conditions. Thanks to botrytis these exceptionally luscious wines boast a unique aromatic complexity and offer a surprising ageing potential.
Pinot Gris 2005, 2000 Sélection de Grains Nobles

Our Pinot Gris “Sélection de Grains Nobles” is produced in the best vintages including 1989, 1990 ou 2000 and recently 2005. The noble rot helps the natural sugar and the acidity of the berries to sometimes reach levels of records. Thanks to the sugar and acidity, Sélection de Grains Nobles can usually be kept for 20, 30 years and more!
