Trimbach Frederic Emile Riesling 2006

“The Trimbach 2006 Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile displays almost cinnamon-like as well as gingery sweet spicy pungency, a legacy of advanced ripeness and a touch of botrytis. Ripe strawberry, blood orange, and pink grapefruit add to the rather decadent allure here, following on an opulent palate, whose subtly oiliness of texture and honeyed cast give further testimony to noble rot. Yet for all of its far-gone, exotic ripeness, there is persistent refreshment here and a sense of lift rather than weight. A strikingly long, succulent finish is touched with quinine and citrus rind bitterness. (The alcohol here is only a bit over 13% in alcohol, incidentally.) After the release later this year I would start enjoying this unforgettable if far from classic Frederic Emile, and while it might well surprise me and hold up well for longer than another 3-5 years after that, I would advise it me monitored closely ,while waiting on the more classic and in time more impressive 2005.” 93 points (David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate)

Trimbach Gewurztraminer Vendages Tardives 2005

The Trimbach 2005 Gewurztraminer Vendange Tardive represents a tiny lot from several parcels with shriveled berries but only a moderate amount of botrytis. Mint and rose petal lead to a creamy palate full of pear, rose, praline, mint, and spices, all wafting delicately and deftly into a long, ennobled yet still juicy finish. This is a tucked-in, perfectly proportional Gewurztraminer that will doubtless have much more to say for itself by the (as yet unspecified) time it is released”. 91 points (David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate)

Trimbach Clos Saint Hune Riesling 2005

“In its aromas of lime, apricot, narcissus, chalk dust, red currant, and musk, the 2005 Riesling Clos Ste-Hune is surprisingly a bit more open and expressive than the Frederic Emile. On the palate this exhibits amazing, chalky density, firm citricity and a satiny, slippery, glycerin-rich texture. Tart red berry, pungent citrus zest, and quarry dust dominate in a finish that is unsurprisingly unyielding but promisingly long. Only time can reveal this wine’s true degree of superiority to the Frederic Emile, and the latter might well nip at its heels indefinitely!. 94 points (David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate)
